WEST END   ELLIOTT

   CITIZENS COUNCIL

__________________________________________________________________

      Elmer Clark

Elmer Clark the president of the West End Elliott Citizens Council suffer a massive heart attack on December 3, 2009. He was returning from a Weed and Seed dinner in Oakland held honoring volunteers who have made a difference in their communities.

Elmer was so pleased with all the friends and neighbors he met with at the West End Elliott Overlook on Light-Up Night a few weeks earlier.

Elmer was a modest man who shunned the spot light and didn’t like to speak to the media. However, his shyness never stopped him from speaking up for the needs and concerns of the community he loved and served Elliott.

The building at the Overlook stood as a white elephant after the renovation to the overlook till Elmer made it his project. He quietly got the building opened to the public. He was always proud of the weddings and other events that took place at the overlook.

There are those who would like to see the building at the overlook named the Elmer Clark building.

The council is planning a memorial to Elmer to be held at the overlook on Monday, May 24. Please plan to attend.

STRIPED OF OUR RIGHTS

A Rally will be held on Monday, February 22 at 5:00 PM on the steps of the City County Building to Protest the ruling of Judge James.

Come and show your support against this travesty of justice against our Rights

Judge James ruled in November that Maquise Investments could open a strip club at 1635 W. Carson St. on the grounds that they were not given a hearing before city council.

Who is responsible for no hearing being held sounds like he did it no she did it regardless the ball was dropped and Councilman Doug Shields was at the helm of city council at the time. City Planning had unanimously disapproved of the opening of the club at 1635 W. Carson Street.

Thanks to councilwoman Theresa Kail-Smith efforts the City is appealing Judge James decision.

The Strip Club is located at the front door of all the western communities of the City. The strip club will be located next to the Onala Club which for thirty years has provided a place for recovering alcoholics and recovering addicts. The strip club will compromise the Onala Club and their great work. The Onala Club SAVES LIVES the Strip Club will DESTROYS LIVES. We must stop the Strip Club! Attend the Rally to show your support.
