Elmer Clark the president of the West End Elliott Citizens
Council suffer a massive heart attack on December 3,
2009. He was returning from a Weed and Seed dinner in
Elmer was so pleased with all the friends and neighbors he
met with at the West End Elliott Overlook on Light-Up Night a few weeks
earlier.
Elmer was a modest man who shunned the spot light and didn’t
like to speak to the media. However, his shyness never stopped him from
speaking up for the needs and concerns of the community he loved and served
Elliott.
The building at the Overlook stood as a white elephant after
the renovation to the overlook till Elmer made it his project. He quietly got
the building opened to the public. He was always proud of the weddings and
other events that took place at the overlook.
There are those who would like to see the building at the
overlook named the Elmer Clark building.
The council is planning a memorial to Elmer to be held at the overlook on Monday, May 24. Please plan to attend.
